Our Rough Itinerary

...So I leave for my 6-8 month backpacking adventure with Jed in less than two weeks and though we have a rough itinerary for our South/Central America adventure, it is far from final. We've agreed that the best travels often stem from spontaneous trips based on recommendations of locals or fellow travelers but also know that us landing in Buenos Aires with no plans has the potential to be disastrous (and dangerous to our parents' health): so here's our [super] rough itinerary.

Feb 7 – Sam Arrives Buenos Aires: can explore BA, Montevideo, etc

Feb 16: Jed Arrives – Buenos Aires

Feb 20: Leave Buenos Aires - night bus to Bariloche

Feb 21: Arrive mid day Bariloche – explore Parque Nacional Huapi

Feb 24: Bus to El Cafate

Feb 25-March 3: El Cafate/Hiking in Torres del Paine

March 3-14: Tierra del Fuego/Ushuaia

March 15: Bus back to Buenos Aires

March 16: Bus to Cordoba, day trip to Cafayete

March 19: Salta

March 20: San Pedro de Atacama

March 22: Salar de Uyuni

March 25: Bus to La Paz

March 26: La Paz

March 28: Lake Titicaca

March 30: Bus to Cuzco

April 2: Inca Trail/Macchu Picchu

April 8: Lima

April 11: Huaraz

April 13: Cuenca

April 17: Quito

April 20: Medellin

April 25: Catagena

May 4: Fly to Panama

May 5-12: Panama

May 5: Night Bus to Boquete (11 hours)/hang for a couple of days

May 9: Bus/Boat to Bocas del Toro

May 12: Bus to San Jose, Costa Rica

May 13-19: Costa Rica

May 13: Puntarenas

May 16: Monteverde

May 18: La Libreria

May 19: Bus to Nica

May 19-24: San Juan Del Sur/Isla de Ometepe

May 25,26: Granada

May 27: Managua: hang with Tressa/Cheryl

May 30: Overnight bus to Guatemala City --> Antigua

June 1-8: Antigua/NPH Guatemala: Hike Cerro del Cruz, explore Antigua, Hang with the kids at NPH

June 9-16: Head to lake Atitlan w/ detour at ChiChi market. Hikes around the lake, kayaking, cliff jumping, etc.

June 17-20: Head to Xela, hike Tajulmulco volcano, Fuentes Georginas

June 21-24: Rio Dulce, Livingston, Lago Izabal

June 25-29: El Mirador (?)

June 30: If El Mirador, flight or overnight bus to Capital for flight home

July 2: Fly to DC/Boston to start US road trip (July/August)
